Aging is a natural biological process, cell damage, which, although not stopped, can be slowed down to a small extent by the development of health technology at most. At the same time, the desire for eternal life has accompanied humanity for thousands of years. There are those who believe in the resurrection, there are those who reincarnate, and there are those who quite simply accept their destiny. Fantastic works of science process the passage of time not interrupted by death, but how real can the possibility of eternal existence be? Experts from different disciplines, neurobiology, philosophy, religion, and arts talk about the forms of processing eternal existence.

Is the answer to the reality of pain a collapse or hope?

The impact of industry 4.0 on the future of work
Speakers: János Pintér, IT and Robotics Manager, Viapan Group, Csaba Molnár Robot Automation and Process Engineer, Viapan Group
Anyone who knows about robots from American movies can view them as formidable creatures that pose a threat to humans. Yet industry 4.0, i.e. production based on artificial intelligence, machines that communicate with each other, is very much about human freedom and creativity. In aging European societies, it is increasingly important for the workforce to be able to do creative work and for monotonous, labor-intensive tasks to be taken over by machines.
Viapan Group is the first HR service provider in Hungary that uses not only human labor, but also the so-called it also deals with collaborative robots. Kobots do not lose a person’s work, but help it: they take monotonous or unhealthy tasks off the shoulders of workers (sometimes literally). The presentation reports on the organizational and communication tasks of introducing collaborative robots, their impact on production, and how easily these small, portable, and if not thoughtful but very smart machines can be programmed.
Date: Wednesday, October 7, 2020, from 10:00 to 11:00
Employment of the elderly and their community formation within the framework of cooperatives
Performer: Tamás Pongrácz, Head of Branch, Viapan Group
According to a saying attributed to Louis Armstrong, the musician does not retire: he plays as long as there is music in it. In Hungary, a large part of the elderly do not want to completely break away from the world of work when they reach retirement age: even in just a few hours, but a lot of people take on some job supplement and, above all, a job and task that keeps the person in the community. Retirement co-operatives were set up for this purpose: to ensure that older people supplement their pensions in an organized, safe manner and to feel useful and valued.
The Southern Neighbors Retirement Cooperative advertises in many forms how much value there is in the expertise and loyalty of retirees; organizes events for its elderly members, supports academies (educational lectures) for seniors in university alumni communities, and also provides a complex job and health assessment.
In his presentation, Tamás Pongrácz, head of the branch office of the Viapan Group, which also includes the Southern Neighbors, describes how the Southern Neighbors were able to form a retirement cooperative in the past 3 years, forming thousands of united communities. As you know, the pension cooperative, together with the school cooperative of the company group, has already solved in many cases that grandparents and grandchilders work in one workplace, and the events also bring generations together.

SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE LECTURES (ONLINE)
Psychological well-being and coping capacity in COVID-19 among the aging age group
Dr. Beatrix Lábadi (associate professor, University of Pécs, Institute of Psychology)
Research participants: Dr. Beatrix Lábadi, Nikolett Arató, Orsolya Inhóf, Tímea Budai, András Zsidó
In their research, the staff of the Institute of Psychology of the University of Pécs assessed how the elderly were able to cope with the psychological burden of the epidemic and the social isolation caused by the restrictions. Coping strategies, loneliness, the level of social support, and indicators of psychological status (psychological well-being, depression, anxiety) were specifically examined.
Their results showed that the effects of coronavirus restrictions are related to how older people interpret and cope with the emerging threat situation. The research model can be used to design and develop professional prevention and intervention protocols as well as coping strategies.
Lecture duration: 45 minutes
Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 10:00 to 11:00
Maintaining mental health and flexibility in old age
Dr. Krisztina Csókási (assistant professor, University of Pécs, Institute of Psychology)
Aging brings about a wide range of physical, mental and social changes, and thus presents many challenges to older people. At the same time, as in the case of bodily functions, degradation and the development of dysfunctions and diseases are not legal in connection with mental functioning. Rather, aging can be seen as a dynamic state that can take multiple directions. Although “normal aging” is associated with various mental problems and functional impairments, and the deteriorating aging process is accompanied by the appearance of certain mental illnesses in old age, there are several ways to prevent or effectively treat them.
Perhaps more important, however, is how to live positive aging (or so-called “successful aging”) and how much we can do to maintain mental health and a good quality of life in old age.
Lecture duration: 45 minutes
Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 11:00 to 12:00

There are many faces of migration in Europe
For the first decades of the 21st century, the debate on the future of Europe, the European Union, has stagnated. In addition to the obvious economic and geopolitical challenges, there were new dilemmas such as the issue of the identity of the continent, the perception of migration and coexistence with immigrants, the crisis of multiculturalism, terrorism and security, or the drastic decline of the European population. and the issue of aging. For decades, Europe has proclaimed diversity, openness and the success of coexistence. Behind the motto Unity in Diversity lies a marked and growing political-social tension, characterized by mass migration and the different religious, cultural identities, lifestyles and attitudes of immigrants from outside Europe. The presentation revolves around these issues.

The health-related potential of smart city technologies
The PTE Energy Design Research Group has created a high-resolution, 3-dimensional city model based on a city simulation model that demonstrates the energy properties of an entire city resulting from environmental parameters. Based on this, it is already possible to show what unique meteorological phenomena develop in an urban microenvironment, such as hot spots, urban air ducts, etc. The model can be attached to a measurement system that, in addition to meteorological parameters, can also transmit air quality data to a big data system compared to simulation data. In addition, social media data that can be filtered based on location data and possibly public health databases can be attached to the system, based on which health risk factors can be determined, creating a forecasting system that can self-learn (using MI) to indicate local risk factors.

Life course and consumer behavior change
Aging is a lifelong complex process that involves living time, individual life experiences, the influence of current social and economic events, and as a result, diversifies individual life paths. Individuals go through developmental phases, between which they encounter psychosocial (developmental) crises and conflicts, thereby developing their personalities, changing their needs and thus moving on to the next stage. Each person moves at a different rhythm, so it is not possible to link the life stages to the exact age, the stage boundaries are only approximate. On the other hand, changes along lived turning points are not only interesting in terms of personality development, but can also be reflected in consumption patterns.
During the presentation, based on the results of an exploratory in-depth interview series, we illustrate the turning points of the interviewed aging consumers (50+ years) during their lifetime and expected later, the outstanding events related to their age, and their relationship to their current age. In addition to the similarities in life path stories, we illustrate the experience and perception of a change in consumer behavior that has developed and subjectively perceived along the five milestones they consider most important.
The research is carried out by the Human Resource Development Operational Program, EFOP-3.6.1-16-2016-00004 (“Comprehensive developments at the University of Pécs in order to achieve intelligent specialization”) and EFOP-3.6.3-VEKOP-16-2017-00007 (“Young Researcher from Talent - Activities to Support Researchers’ Careers in Higher Education ”).

Presentation about the EIT Health and the Institute for Transdisciplinary Discoveries
With our project, we want to support the system of conditions for maintaining physical and mental freshness, motivate and encourage the elderly to take action, and at the same time initiate a change of attitude in several stakeholders - younger age group, local government, decision-makers. To demonstrate and substantiate that the economic, social and cultural role of the elderly is by no means negligible, in fact, extremely significant.
