Our institute was founded in 2018 with the aim of promoting and promoting university culture and scientific research to a wide range of society, and creating interaction not only within the university but also outside its walls. Through a process of transdisciplinarity, we will bring together actors from different disciplines, the economic and civil spheres, through new methodological approaches and effective communication. We aim to provide a space that facilitates and encourages collaboration and division of labour between sectors in a way that benefits not only the participants but society as a whole. Education, research, innovation, science communication and networking are the main pillars of our Institute.
Education and science communication
We are developing courses that approach the same phenomena from different perspectives and methodologies of several sciences and arts at the same time. Following international trends, our teaching practice follows the spirit of inter- and transdisciplinarity. Our courses are taught not only by faculty members from the different faculties of PTE, but also by international guest lecturers and external experts. Since our foundation, we have launched courses such as Sell yourself!, Medical Humanities, Atomic Stories, Hedonism in practice, House MD in Philosopy, or Tapestry of values in science.
Research
Our Institute is determined to develop and apply the concept of transdisciplinarity in research. Researchers and practitioners alike contribute with their unique expertise to a process of understanding and processing different disciplines as a complex whole, as a project, rather than as a particular, highlighted part of a project. In the course of this challenging, exciting and diverse work, internationally recognised intellectual knowledge is being generated through new methods and approaches.
Innovation and networking
The philosophy of transdisciplinarity is committed to an engaging strategy of building well-functioning, purpose-driven relationships with business and innovation, as well as with the general public. As a member of the international EIT Health (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) network, we connect emerging talent with industry players, resulting in innovative products, services and businesses. In addition, our institute focuses not only on science education and forums, but also on scientific yet accessible events for ordinary people, such as Brain Awareness Week, Art of Ageing and the Art of Ageing Conference and Festival.
