Dr. Csutak 1996-ban kezdte kutató munkáját a Debreceni Egyetem Orvostudományi Karán, könnyminták enzimatikus vizsgálataival. PhD fokozatának megszerzésével (2002) szinte egyidőben szemész szakorvosi (2003) címet szerzett. Jelenleg a PTE Szemészeti Klinikájának vezetőjeként a betegellátás minőségi színvonalának emelése mellett fontos céljának tartja az alapkutatás innovatív szintre történő emelését. Munkacsoportja kutatási eredményeiként, európai, amerikai és magyar szabadalmakat jegyez, melyből egy értékesített licencia. Innovációs tevékenységét a Johns Hopkins Egyetem „Invention of the Year” (2001) díjjal, a Debreceni Egyetem „Innovációs Díj”-jal (2004) és a Magyar Szabadalmi Hivatal „Millennium” díjjal (2008) jutalmazta.   A Magyar Szemorvos Társaság elnökhelyettese, a Szemészeti Szakmai Kollégium tagja, számos szakmai társasági tagsága mellett. A Plos One folyóirat szerkesztő bizottsági tagja és rendszeresen végzi magyar és külföldi folyóiratok és pályázatok lektorálását.

Dr. Csutak started her research work at the University of Debrecen Faculty of Medicine with enzymatic examinations of tear samples. Almost at the same time as obtaining her PhD (2002), she got her ophthalmologist specialist license (2003). Currently, as the head of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the University of Pécs, she considers raising the quality of patient care as well as considers an important goal to raise basic research to an innovative level. As a result of her research group’s scientific achievements, she records European, U.S. and Hungarian patent applications, one of them is licensed. Her innovation work has won her the awards „Invention of the Year” by the Johns Hopkins University (2001), the “UD Innovation Award” by the University of Debrecen (2004) and the “Millennium” award by the Hungarian Patent Office (2008). She is the vice-president of the Hungarian Ophthalmological Society and a member of the College of Ophthalmology, in addition to several professional memberships. She is Academic Editor of Plos One and regularly performs peer-review of Hungarian and foreign journals and grant applications.
